Frequently Asked
Questions
Where are classes held?
Yume Dance Studio is
located at
103 E 5th Street
Malvern, IA 51551
(lower level of the library, entrance is on the south side)
Why is there a dress code?
Students are asked to wear specific clothing in order to allow the instructors to see body movement. When a child is wearing street clothes or baggy clothes, it becomes difficult for a teacher to see if the child has correct body placement. Appropriate dance dress also helps to promote a stable learning environment in the studio classroom.
Where can I get dance clothes and shoes?
There are a number of dance magazines, online stores, and department stores. Target, Walmart, Shopko, etc. usually have leotards and tights at very reasonable prices. Shoes can be purchased online or through Yume Dance Studio. YDS will never profit off the cost of dance shoes and will sell them at cost+shipping. If you use craigslist, ebay, amazon, or other sites, please talk to your instructor to make sure you are buying the correct shoe. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not get the “slipper ballet shoes” that is available in department stores. It does not fit properly, offers no support, and no grip making it dangerous for the child to wear in class.
Yume Dance Studio will also order shoes, tights, and dancewear for your convenience.
Why can’t I be in the room?
Yume Dance Studio discourages parents and other visitors in the room during class time as they can be distracting to students. It is also important that the teachers are the authority in the studio and if a parent is in the room it can be confusing to younger students. There are specific parent viewing weeks, where family members are invited in for a portion of the class time so you can see how your child is progressing and learning!
What do my registration and recital fees cover?
Annual registration and
recital fees will cover registration documents, parent handbook,
recital rental, equipment, recital t shirts, props, scenery, music
fees, and more. In order to keep monthly tuition payments
affordable, these annual costs are essential in order to give your
student the best possible experience.
Do I need to be enrolled in classes for the year in order to participate in summer camps or the holiday show?
Absolutely not! Summer
camps and the Holoiday show are open to anyone who is interested in
joining! It is also a great way to decide on a new style of dance!
Although we always hope that you will come back for classes
regularly, it is not a requirement!
When will your summer and fall schedules be available?
SOON! we are working on
that now!
